The law provides for the protection of buildings against noise pollution

The environment around us, especially the home, some situations that are detrimental to our health seem more obvious than others. In reality, not all forms of pollution effects "immediately" undetectable. Noise pollution is one of these.

In homes, especially in condominiums citizens, forced cohabitation of so many people gives rise to numerous household noises that may be intolerable and that often lead to numerous quarrels. However, the noise sources can also be located outside the building (traffic, transport, industrial facilities, road works, construction).

Good sound insulation inside allows you to defend against loud noises but it should be remembered that the national legal system guarantees the protection of individuals through the application of Article 844 of the Civil Code also requires that the noise limits.

This rule is in place a regulatory framework introduced twenty years ago, with the aim of identifying specific criteria for the evaluation of immission considered disturbing for people and sometimes harmful to health.

The key concept, from exposure to noise sources, is the threshold of "normal levels".

We define noise pollution "the introduction of noise in residential areas or external such as to cause annoyance or disturbance to rest and to human activities, danger to human health, deterioration of ecosystems, material goods, monuments and the housing or outdoor environment or interferes with the lawful enjoyment of these same environments "

The protection of the environment against adverse effects resulting from exposure to noise can be achieved through various actions.

To isolate a building from the outside can be internally lined with the roof and walls of sound-absorbing panels of natural material such as cork, hemp or kenaf fibers pressed, which also thermally insulate, for which the advantage is twofold.

The windows must be installed in a workmanlike manner and be airtight. The use of double glazing with cavity filled by an inert gas and the use of laminated glass improves the performance even more.

The floor can be isolated by the application between the substrate and the coating of a carpet sound insulation always hemp or kenaf. It serves to deaden the sound vibrations produced by the steps and who jumps and runs. Even discharges may create noise, especially at night, so much so that in some condos (especially in Switzerland) it is forbidden to use at night. Sound insulation coatings are available to cover the pipes.

In terms of external environmental noise sources the town must determine the specific limits of acceptability of noise and make plans for zoning with any acoustic noise control - if the environmental noise levels exceed those limits-up to bring the levels of environmental noise to certain optimal values, the so-called quality values.

From this point of view, the legislation identifies 6 classes and acoustic sets limits in terms of absolute levels of input, output and quality, as a function of the reference period daytime (6:00 to 22:00) and nighttime (22:00 - 06: 00).

If you are obsessed with noise, consider, however, the law provides for a "limit differential" between inside and outside of homes. An event is considered to be noisy not only acceptable if the difference between the "ambient noise level and the residual noise level" is more than 5 dB (day) and 3 dB (night).

As you can guess, the noise and from a building is a matter of fundamental importance.
