Electricity bill: what are the “monorarie” and “biorarie” electricity tariff

Since January 1, 2012, the application of two-tier prices is mandatory for all domestic customers with an electronic counter. Here's how to juggle the various offerings

There is talk of two-part tariff (or multi-hour) when the price of 'electricity varies depending on the time of day and days of the week in which the energy is consumed. With the two-tier prices, the cost of electricity to the end user is in fact modulated in relation to the wholesale price of production, which varies from hour to hour. During the times when electricity demand is lower, the final price is lower, while in the middle of the day, when demand is high, the price of electricity increases.

To rate monoraria is meant a rate that provides a single price throughout the day, regardless of the time period in which electricity is used.

The two-tier prices were introduced in Italy as of 1 July 2010, by resolution of AEEG (Italian Authority for Electricity and Gas). They provide two-tier two price levels: a lower price in the time slot between 19.00 and 8.00 on weekdays (Monday to Friday) and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and other holidays (items F2 and F3 in the bill), a higher price in the time band between 8.00 and 19.00 on weekdays (F1 entry in the bill).

Since January 1, 2012, the application of two-tier prices is mandatory for all residential customers who have reprogrammed electronic counter on the three levels of consumption and who received at least three invoices adjustment. AEEG further obligation of having to inform each customer with three notices at least six months prior to the application of the two-tier rates.

Residential customers and small businesses can choose from the two-tier solutions established by the Authority for the enhanced protection service and proposals of the vendors on the open market. To adhere to the two-tier offerings established by AEEG must contact the company that carries out the enhanced protection service, and sign up for a two-tier market for free you should contact the vendor that operates on the free market.

Explain the Authority for Electricity and Gas tier prices that offer opportunities for savings in the bill, provided they concentrate consumption in the hours most convenient. Use too much electricity at times more expensive hand would increase spending than in the past, continues AEEG. The Authority suggests to concentrate more than two-thirds of electricity consumption from 19.00 to 8.00 on weekdays, and all hours on Saturdays, Sundays and other holidays. The two-tier tariff system also encourages more knowledgeable and efficient use of electricity, with benefits in terms of energy saving, environmental protection and sustainability, adds AEEG.
